KEITH KNOWLES 

Campus Athletic Coordinator / Head Football Coach / Offensive Line

Coach Knowles is expecting great things from the Clements Rangers this season. 


His motto is:  “Life is too short to be unhappy.”

Experience: 7th year at Clements and 13th year coaching overall.  Previously coached at Kingwood and Beaumont Kelly High Schools and Liberty Hill Middle School.   Coach Knowles was the Defensive Coordinator for Clements in 2007 when the Rangers advanced to the State Quarterfinals and in 2006, when Clements won the District Championship.


Coaching Achievements:
Defensive Coordinator for CHS - State Quarterfinalists in ’07 and District Champions in ’06


Education:
Lamar University, B.S. in Kinesiology

BEN DUHON

Defensive Coordinator / Varsity Quarterbacks and Linebackers

 

Coach Duhon’s motto is if you give 100% of your focus and effort to the task at hand,  100% of the time, you cannot fail.

Experience: 5th year at Clements and 11th year coaching overall. Previously coached two years at Hightower High School and one year at Sulphur and three years at Iowa High Schools in Louisiana.

Coaching Achievements: CHS State Quarterfinalists in ’07 and District Champions in ’06; helped coach two other district champions in football and two in baseball

Offseason: Track Assistant Coach

 

Education: Coach Duhon is a graduate of McNeese State University.  Coach Duhon was a four-year letterman in Football at McNeese State University and an Academic All-American Linebacker.   His degree is in secondary math education with a minor in social studies.  Coach Duhon previously coached at Hightower High School, Suphur High School, and Iowa High School in Louisiana.  Coach Duhon was part of the coaching staff that helped the Rangers advanced to the State Quarterfinals in 2007 and in 2006, when Clements won the District Championship.

KEVIN BYRD

Offensive Coordinator / Varsity Offensive Line and Defensive Ends

 

Coach Byrd’s motto is:

“Winning is the science of being totally prepared.”

 

Experience: This is Coach Byrd’s 4th year at Clements High School and 11th year coaching overall.  Previously coached three years at Giddings, one year at Seguin and two years at Spring High Schools.

 

Coaching Achievements: Coach Byrd has coached teams to the State Quarterfinals in 2007, 2006, and 2005 and was a member of the coaching staff in the 2001 Blue Chip All-Star Game.

 

Offseason:  Girls Track Head Coach

 

Education: Coach Byrd is a graduate of Hardin-Simmons University and has a degree in History and Education.  He was a 4 year letterman in football at Hardin-Simmons and was an Academic All-American Lineman.

Offseason: Boys Track Head Coach

Experience: 7th year at Clements and 10th year coaching overall. Previously coached for three years at Fort Settlement Middle School.

Achievement: Played on the 1992 Texas State 4A Football Championship Team from Waxahachie High School.

College: University of Texas at Austin, B.S. Kinesiology, Minor in Biology

BOBBY DARNELL

Varsity Wide Receivers and Cornerbacks

 

Coach Darnell ‘s motto is:
"Don’t let someone else out work YOU!!"

 

Experience: 3rd year at Clements and 7th year coaching overall.  Previously coached four years at Bush High School.

Coaching Achievements: Regional Qualifiers in Track at Bush.

Offseason: JV Basketball Coach


Education: Baylor University, M.S. in Education/Sports Management, B.A. in Telecommunications, four year letterman in football from ’98 – ’02 as a receiver.

Clements Connection: CHS graduate, class of 1997. Three-year starter in football. All District 1st Team selection in “96 and ’95. Holds numerous school records in football including longest TD reception (96 yards). He was a four-year letterman in Track. Lettered in Basketball as well.

JEFF ARTHUR

Varsity Tight Ends and Defensive Ends

Coach Arthur’s Motto is:

Experience:  2nd
year at Clements, 5th year of coaching. He previously coached at Manvel and Clear Brook High Schools.

Achievement: University of Kansas Football 2004 -2008

Education: Texas State University with a BA of Science in Exercise and Sports Science.

Aaron Macik

JV Receivers and Secondary


Coach Macik's motto is:

Offseason: Freshman Basketball Coach

Experience: 1st year at Clements  and 7th year coaching overall.  Previously, Coach Macik coached at Dulles High School for three years and Dulles Middle School for three years.  He was a two year letterman at LBJ High School where he played Football, Wrestling, and Baseball.


Education:
University of Houston and he has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology.

Experience: 3rd year at Clements and 6 years of overall coaching experience. Previously coached 3 years at George Bush HS (2005-2008).  Three-year letterman in baseball at Leander HS.

Experience: 3rd year at Clements and 8th year coaching overall.  Previously coached 5 years at Bastrop HS.  Coach Longstreet is from LaMarque, TX and he played football and baseball at LaMarque HS.

RICHARD GRIMM

JV Assistant Football Coach / Receivers / Defensive Line

 

Coach Grimm's motto is:

Experience:
4th year coaching at Clements. Previously
was head baseball coach at New Philadelphia HS in Ohio for 10 years; junior high and freshman football coach in New Philadelphia, Ohio, for 6 years; junior high basketball coach there for 5 years.


Coaching Achievements:
Eastern District Coach of the Year in 2000 and 2003, in Ohio.


Education:
Bachelor's degree in Political Science at Allegheny College. 
Played four years of baseball at Indiana University and Allegheny College.


High School:
Four-year letterman in baseball, three-year letterman in basketball at Jefferson Union HS.


Clements Connection:
First teaching position was at CHS in 1997.  Three nieces attended CHS.

Wife: Karen.  Married 18 years.

MIKE HANAFAN
Freshmen Receivers and Linebackers


Coach Hanafan’s motto:

Experience
: Coach Hanafan is entering his third year teaching at Clements and his first coaching.  Coach Hanafan was a three-year letterman in football and a two-year letterman in baseball at Coe.  Coach Hanafan has coached baseball at Flower Mound H.S. in Texas and was part of teams that made it to the 5-A State Tournament two consecutive years making it to the state final in 2004.

Experience: First year at Clements. He is originally from the DFW area where he attended Birdville High School.

GLEN "DOC" STROECH

Head Athletic Trainer


Experience:
Fourth year at Clements and thirty-fourth year coaching. Most recently was Head Trainer at Katy Morton Ranch High School for two years; Calallen High School for twenty-three years and Georgetown High School for five years.             


Achievements:
Head Athletic Trainer for four State Championship Teams and one State Quarterfinalist Team (Clements)


Education:
Texas A & M University, M.Ed., B.S.; Student Athletic Trainer at TAMU and at Blinn Junior College.
