Varsity

Friday,  October 2: The Rangers won a nail-biter 20-19 !

Trailing 19-10 with under 6 minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Varsity Rangers scored a touchdown (Ray Oppman 2-yard run, Brett Dunn extra point).  The Rangers defense then allowed Dulles only three offensive plays, forcing a punt from the Dulles 20 on 4th-and-20.  The Rangers offense, starting on the Dulles 39 with 3:22 remaining,  moved the ball to the Dulles 5-yard line with only 15 seconds remaining.  A Brett Dunn field goal put the Rangers up 20-19.  Dulles got the ball back with 11 seconds remaining, completed one long pass to the Rangers' 31-yard line, and with only 3 seconds remaining threw a long pass that was picked off by Preston Packard at the Rangers' 3-yard line as time ran out!

Thursday, Oct 1: The JV Blue team:

The Clements Ranger JV Blue Team bounced back Thursday night with a solid 14-0 shutout victory over Dulles.  The Rangers got on the board with a Jacob Khalil touchdown run in the 1st quarter.  Khalil ended the night with 123 yards on 18 carries for a 6.8 yard average.  The Rangers offensive line led by ex-Viking Terry Gallagher dominated the line of scrimmage all night long.  Despite the Rangers dominance they still only led 7-0 until late in the 4th quarter when Adam Blankenship scored his 1st career touchdown from 15 yards out to put the Rangers up 14-0.

A great team effort was put forward by the entire defense as the Rangers logged their first shutout of the season.  Eric Nguyen did an excellent job at quarterback in his 1st time to see game action all season.  The win improves the Rangers to 3-1 in district with a huge showdown with the Elkins Knights coming up on Wednesday.

Freshman

Thursday, Oct 1: The Freshman White team beat Kempner 20-0 !

After scrimmaging the Kempner Cougars early in the year and having some success that day, the Clements white team understood that Kempner would be much improved.  The team decided to make sure that we wanted to score first, and then rely heavily on the defense to carry us the rest of the way.  We ended up scoring early and then almost every quarter afterwards.  The defense played exceptionally well this day by only allowing Kempner to cross the 50 yard line twice for the entire game.

Kempner was 2-1 while the Clements White team was 3-0 in district play.  Now Clements is tied for first place so far in an undefeated district season.  They will continue to work hard each week and not underestimate any team on the schedule.

First quarter score was                        6-0

Second Quarter                                   13-0

Third Quarter Score                            20-0

Fourth Quarter Score                          20-0

Thursday, Oct 1: The Freshman Blue team beat Dulles 28-0 !

Last Thursday the Freshman Blue team traveled across town and defeated the Dulles Vikings 28-0.  The early start time proved to be no problem for the Rangers as they got off to a fast start.  Troy Skisak recovered a Viking fumble on the second play from scrimmage.  Trevor Moore would capitalize for the Rangers with the first of his two touchdown runs.  Also adding touchdowns for the Rangers were Demarcus Cobb and Michael Henderson.  The defense turned in another outstanding performance as they kept the Vikings on their side of the field all night.  Helping lead the Ranger defense was Jack Grover, Cam Bayne, Alec Burris and Jaime Richards.  The Rangers look to continue their district run as they take on the Elkins Knights Wednesday night at Kempner Stadium.
